(Overview)

The brief

The roaster released a new single origin almost every month, and each one got its own label from whoever had time that week. Customers could not tell the coffees apart, or tell the brand apart on a shelf.

The work

We settled on two bags: kraft for blends and a pale blue for single origins. One stamped bean shape does the branding, and a small printed card carries the origin, the roast date and the tasting notes. A new coffee is now a new card, not a new design.

The result

Label costs dropped by more than half, and the team prints the cards in house. The blue bag became the thing regulars ask for by colour.
